Who's in charge of your arms & hands? You are!
The most recent issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) has printed a study of the failure of traditional Physical Therapy treatments and Cortisone shots to relieve or improve 'Tennis Elbow', lateral epicondylitis. In fact, the shots showed degeneration of the tendons at the elbow, and the PT had little short, or long term effect.
If the medical establishment can't get it right, it's up to each of us to find our own way. Ways that may not be "normal or traditional" treatments. Ways that may include a half dozen ways of looking at your problem. Diet, water intake, general exercise that includes yoga or Pilates type range of motion, reducing unhealthy stress levels, practicing mindfulness, trying different ways of seeing and reacting to your condition.
In other words, we are in charge and happy to be in charge when we tap into what works for each of us and can put a name to our new ways. That's our personal journey. Good luck and perseverance to us all.
